Officer Miller of the Multicorp Security forces is an experienced fighter pilot and a Class A Jackass. Born to wealthy California parents, the laid back ex-beach bum was a surf guide back on the west coast, flying billionaires to remote locations like Antarctica and Malaysia.

When Miller landed in the wrong (unauthorized) place at the wrong time, he was taken prisoner. But his incarceration was brief, thanks to an intervention by his wealthy parents, and his agreement to pay penance by way of becoming a Star Marshal. Miller stands by his duty, patrolling the Asteroid Highway for the MCS, but his heart isn't in it, and his lazy surfer dude mentality reappears frequently. Miller relishes taunting his more serious co-workers, namely the super-smart and impossibly uptight Weyburn.
